Harley Davidson Motorcycle Parts

When buying Harley Davidson motorcycle parts, should you go for new ones, or make a saving by purchasing second hand parts? That’s a good question, and one that you should give some serious thought to if you are considering saving money by going down the second hand route.

Biking is not a cheap hobby, of course. Although motorbikes are generally cheaper to buy and run, the costs can still be substantial. And that is particularly true if you are a HOG rider…the costs can soon add to as much, or even more than, you would pay for a typical family car.

So when you need to replace something on your machine it is tempting to go for a second hand Harley Davidson motorcycle part. That way you could pick up a part at perhaps half price or less. That is true whether you ride a Sportster, Softtail, Road King, Fat Boy or Street Custom.

That might seem like a big saving. After all, no matter whether you live in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or anywhere else in Australia, main dealers have a habit of whacking up prices on these kind of products.

However, there is a problem. If you buy a used part, then you are purchasing something that may already be towards the end of its useful life. That’s not such a big problem if you are buying an accessory such a a saddle bag, luggage, a helmet or gloves.

However, it could be a huge problem if you are buying Harley parts such as brakes, a clutch, an engine or a handlebar. Just imagine what would happen if this component unexpectedly failed while you were overtaking at high speed on the highway. An ordinary driving experience could easily turn into a complete disaster – perhaps even a fatal one.

This is particularly true with brakes, of course. But serious problems could also arise if other parts of your bike fail. Is it worth the risk? Quite simply, no – it is not.

So don’t compromise when buying Harley Davidson motorcycle parts. Invest in new, genuine parts and keep yourself safe to ride another day.
